Pure Magnolia custom bridalwear company will debut its 2014 collection at an Oct. 2 charity gala in support of YWCA Crabtree Corner. During the evening, five deserving brides-to-be will model used gowns reworked by Pure Magnolia, with hair and makeup by Zazou Salon and Spa.

Two North Vancouver businesses are teaming up to help five brides-to-be look their very best on their wedding days.

Pure Magnolia bridal shop and Zazou Salon and Spa are giving makeovers to a group of women who have used programs at YWCA Crabtree Corner, a family resources centre on the Downtown Eastside that supports women and their families. The five women are now engaged and ready to start a new chapter in their lives, but are unable to afford wedding dresses.

Over the summer, Pure Magnolia asked past brides to consider parting with their gowns. The donations were then upcycled into custom-designed wedding dresses for the five women.

"A wedding is supposed to be such a special moment for the bride, and I want to make sure she feels beautiful and extremely special on her wedding day," said Pure Magnolia designer Patty Nayel.

Meanwhile, Zazou Salon and Spa in Lynn Valley has offered to treat all five of the women to a day at their salon. And for the finishing touch, Mirror Mirror Bijoux has created custom-made jewelry for the future brides.

The women will model their wedding-day looks at the Re-Vamp charity gala on Oct. 2 at the Vancouver Aquarium. The fundraising evening was made possible with the help of Flawless Events. In addition to the bridal makeover showcase, Pure Magnolia will also be debuting its 2014 collection.

All proceeds from Re-Vamp will go to YWCA Crabtree Corner. Tickets: general admission, $30; VIP, $45 (reserved seating and swag bag) available at puremagnolia.eventbrite.com.
