Race for the House

Doug Yip poses at Mission Raceway Park last year with his purpose-built race car for the Trans-Am racing series that currently competes in the GT-1 class. The car was modelled after a Ford Mustang, but the only part from a real Mustang is the roof. It has a tube frame and fibreglass body and contains a 358 CI V-8 putting out about 575 horsepower. The North Vancouver resident will be racing at Mission park this weekend for the Sports Car Club of British Columbia’s Race for the House, July 12-13, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Presented by Mazda, the fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House B.C. will feature live racing, a poker tournament, 50/50 draw and Hot Laps for Kids, giving fans and families an opportunity to purchase two laps in a high-performance car, driven by a professional driver. Tickets: $10/person or $25/carload.  sccbc.net  rmhbc.ca
