Rubina Jamal, project co-ordinator of Table Matters Network’s Scaling-Up Food Rescue Project, and chef Scott Rowe prepare pasta sauce from rescued food (food that’s safe to eat, but would have been thrown away due to things like cosmetic bruises), as part of a pilot project with North Shore Neighbourhood House at the Mountainside secondary kitchen. The initiative is intended to provide nutritional meals to children and parents at the Mountainside secondary childcare centre. On Thursday, June 4, Table Matters will hold its final event for the Scaling-Up Food Rescue Project, an endeavour funded by B.C. Healthy Communities Plan H. Those in attendance can hear about the project and provide feedback from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at District of North Vancouver municipal hall. Registration required, visit eventbrite.ca.
