OK, so I'm not perfect.

In fact, I am so far from perfect that I am imperfect. Or, at the very least, I have what experts like to call "imperfection-prone skin."

That's a nice way of saying that my skin is a mess: pimples, shine, redness, large pores, dry patches, you name it.

It helps to know that I'm not alone. Almost half of all women who visit Vichy Laboratoires' Skin Health Centre say they have pimples and the company's market research shows one in three women battle shine.

The skin-care company is touting what it says is the only treatment clinically proven to work effectively on six imperfections of adult skin: pimples, redness, dilated pores, shine and dehydration.

The star product in Vichy's Normaderm collection is Hydrating Acne Care. The moisturizer contains three main active ingredients: salicylic acid to unblock pores, glycolic acid skin for cell renewal and to kill bacteria, and LHA to target acne.

Also new to the Normaderm collection:

Tri-Activ Mask ($19.95 for 125 ml tube), a clay product with a cream foam texture that can be used as a mask once or twice a week when left on the skin for a few minutes then rinsed off, or used daily as an exfoliator when combined with water.

Total Mat ($27.95 for 30 ml tube), for oil and shine control, a hydrating gel that uses micro-powders and perlite to absorb sebum and perspiration to prevent shine. Use it as a base for makeup or even on your hands to control sweaty palms.
