DO you know someone who is dedicated to ensuring hockey goes on in their community?

Kraft Canada is looking for special individuals who go the extra mile, whether it be the Zamboni driver who polishes the ice before every game, the peewee coach who teaches kids how to skate and hold a stick, or the parents who drive carpool no matter how early their kids' practices are.

Through the Kraft Hockey Goes On program, 25 individuals will be celebrated and $1 million will be awarded to Hockey Canada-affiliated organizations.

The top five individuals across the country who keep hockey going will each receive $100,000 for their chosen local minor hockey associations.

An additional 20 individuals (four per region) will be awarded $20,000 each to put toward hockey equipment, ice time, tournaments and upgrades for their local minor hockey associations.

"There are over four million hockey volunteers across Canada and it is because of their passion and dedication that Canadian children have the chance to play the game and dream big," said Jack Hewitt, vice-president of marketing insight and services, Kraft Canada.

"This is our way of saying thanks to these local hockey supporters for their commitment to Canada's favourite sport."

Canadians can make nominations from now through March 8. A panel of judges will narrow the nominations down to the top 100.

Canadians can then vote online for their top choice among the 100 nominees from March 23 to 24.

The top nominees receiving funds for their chosen hockey association will be announced on March 30.
