Making strides

North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre’s Markus Dunner, Sandy Lang, Gay Walker, Jane Rundle and Angel Crawford along with Surefeet’s Judy Bjornson and Susan Bock Smith promote the upcoming Strides for Strokes, a two to four-kilometre walk, run or wheelchair event, Saturday, June 13 at 9:30 a.m. beginning at West Vancouver’s John Lawson Park. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the centre’s continued efforts to provide speech, exercise, art and music therapy to local stroke survivors. This year’s event also marks 15 years since the Reach for the Top climb up Collins Run on Cypress Mountain led by Yvonne Rowe, then a seven-year stroke survivor, with the support of family, friends and fellow stroke survivors. That initiative inspired Strides for Strokes, which is marking its 10th edition this year. nssrc.org
