Local chef fares well in cooking competition

Carmen Ingham from North Vancouver placed second in the inaugural Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship competition on Sunday.

Held at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver, the event featured contestants

creating a recipe using specified ingredients for a panel of chef judges.

A press release from the competition noted the top three chefs then competed in a black box challenge using mystery ingredients, including steelhead trout, lobster, Meyer lemon, heart of palm and almonds.

Ingham placed second in the final event and was also named Le Creuset Rising Star.

The top spot went to Paul Moran of Kelowna, who took home $10,000 in cash among other prizes.
