Laurie Strachan, Wes Taylor and Eric Blank show the new AED (automatic external defibrillator), a life-saving device the West Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society recently donated to the West Vancouver Legion along with CPR/AED training to staff. The society has long been a Legion supporter through its annual Poppy Fund. This year, they decided to do more. Their idea was derived from one of their firefighters who was at the Lynn Valley Legion a few months ago to help a patron in medical distress. In the 1990s, the Legion provided the West Vancouver Fire Department with its first AED so those involved in the donation are pleased to see things go full circle.
