Leah Yard's new collection supports women in Vancouver

The jewelry maker has teamed up with her partner for a new line called SERIES, benefiting the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.

One of our favourite makers, B.C.-based Leah Yard Designs (LYD), is collaborating with her partner, Kyle Kary of Unimpressed Screen Printing, to create a small-batch apparel line labelled SERIES that’s doing some serious good in the city.

With both businesses located within a few blocks of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the couple could not ignore the devastating circumstances of folks living in the area, particularly women.

Deeply affected by the daily tragedy so many experience, Yard and Kary designed, together, a casual, classic and very West Coast range of hoodies, satchels, tees and totes, all with touches of LYD glamour throughout.

Gold hardware and detailing elevates the Lauren Tote, and Leah’s personal favourite: The Brooklyn Satchel. The best part is 15 per cent of each item sold will be donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.

“I do believe that we influence our own destiny and ultimately we are responsible for the choices we make, but there’s an unlimited number of ways things can turn out. And we all have different starting points and battles to fight. Sometimes it’s a major event that changes someone’s course, and sometimes it’s tiny, seemingly insignificant events that nudge us along our path,” says Yard.

“It’s a small gesture toward a much bigger issue. But it’s someplace for us to start.”
