The B.C. SPCA is warning cat owners who live in highrise buildings to safeguard their feline companions following the recent injury or death of several cats that fell from balconies.

In August, the Vancouver shelter had five cats brought in that were seriously injured after jumping or falling from highrise balconies. Two of them were so badly injured that they could not be saved.

If cats are allowed out on highrise balconies, the SPCA advises owners to ensure the area is enclosed so the animals can't fall through the bars or above the railing.
