It's not the most glamorous job in the world. We tend to put it off until we can't stand it any longer.
I'm talking about properly storing our household products. How many times have you opened your kitchen drawers to discover everything out of place and scattered haphazardly? Your cleaning products are old and out of date and all your Tupperware products are lying all over the bottom shelf. Sound familiar?
Maybe it's time to put aside a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and work on a few storage solutions.
Believe it or not there are a number of fantastic storage ideas that will help you stay organized in your kitchen and utility areas.
One of the best ideas I have come across is the use of an inexpensive selfadjusting curtain tension rod to hang your spray cleaning products. Simply measure the distance across your kitchen or bathroom cupboard and adjust the tension rod to fit snuggly in between. Hang your spray products from the rod. This is a great idea because it allows extra room below the bottles for small plastic baskets to house the remaining cleaning supplies.
Another clever idea is to use an inexpensive curtain rod to hang your kitchen pot lids on the inside panel of a cupboard door. Look for these little curtain rods in stores such as Walmart, Bed Bath Beyond and other housewares stores. Simply position the rod on the lower third of the cupboard door so there is ample room for the lid to fit snuggly behind the rod.
Store all your dry pasta in glass or plastic containers. If your pantry is like mine, it is probably full of half-empty pasta boxes.
A great way to clearly view your pasta supplies is to use the clear glass containers that may be found at local dollar stores.
These are great because they can be stacked on top of each other to alleviate space in your pantry.
Lastly, Tupperware lids are beautifully stored when placed in a dish dry rack. Measure your cupboard where you would like to store your Tupperware lids and pick up a dish drainer at your local hardware or dollar store.
Slide the lids into the slots. You will be surprised at how many these racks can hold.
Another great option for these lids is to store them in a mesh laundry bag. Use the pull string to tightly organize the lids and place in your cupboard.
