Are you expecting guests this New Year's Eve?
Why not ring in the New Year with this very simple and elegant table arrangement?
Most of the materials for this arrangement may be found at your local grocery and dollar store.
Grocery floral departments normally carry blocks of wet floral foam for sale.
Materials
- 1 large glass, square or round vase
- Faux aspidistra leaves or other fresh green leaves
- White or red roses
- Wet floral foam
- Sharp scissors or paring knife
- Decorative accessories
- Adhesive glitter numbers (optional)
Method
Begin by soaking your wet floral foam for one hour in room temperature water.
Once the foam is thoroughly soaked, place it in the glass vase and fill the vase halfway with room temperature water.
If you do not have any large, fresh greens in your garden then ask your floral department at your local grocery store if they have pieces of faux aspidistra leaves. They will normally sell them in individual pieces.
Wrap the wet floral foam in the green leaves to hide the foam from the outside of the vase.
Fill the vase completely with water.
Cut your rose stems on a sharp angle approximately one inch from the base of the rose head and place inside the floral foam.
Continue to fill the entire surface of the foam with the roses until it is completely full.
Add your decorative accessories, such as glittered pinecones and miniature baubles.
Attach the adhesive glitter numbers "2016" to a miniature sign and insert into your arrangement.
Scatter tealight candles around the base of the arrangement on your table.
Happy New Year!
