Getting to Know Dementia: Join the Alzheimer Society of B.C. for an introductory session on Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and the challenges of receiving a diagnosis Monday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Alzheimer Society Resource Centre, 148 East Second St., North Vancouver. MEC North Vancouver Race Two: Registration is open for this five/10-kilometre race which takes place Saturday, March 30, 9-11: 30 a.m. at Inter River Park. Healthy Community Hero Award: Applications are now being accepted for 2013. Visit the Active North Shore website at activenorthshore.com to find out how to nominate an individual, organization or company from the North Shore for next year's award. Nominees must support at least one of the three pillars of Active North Shore, which include active living, healthy eating and living smoke-free. The closing date for nominations is April 1.

The Canadian Hard of Hearing - North Shore Branch holds a monthly series of informal workshops and discussions around the issues affecting the hard of hearing on the first Friday of the month, 10 a.m.-noon at the West Vancouver Seniors' Activity Centre, 695 21st St. Subjects to be addressed will include the latest technology for hearing aids, coping strategies, speech reading and improving hearing environments.
