Representatives of North Shore Neighbourhood House want residents of Lynn Valley, Lower Lonsdale, Lynnmour and Ridgeway/Moodyville communities to throw a block party.

According to a written statement, with funding from the Vancouver Foundation, North Shore Neighbourhood House has created the Neighbourhood Small Grants Program. The program allocates small grants - ranging from $50 to a maximum of $500 - to residents willing to create events within their community that will involve neighbours getting together and doing fun activities.

Events can be anything from starting a community garden, to having a community potluck dinner to hosting a good oldfashioned neighbourhood block party.

To be applicable for a grant there must be a planning group that includes at least two residents who have planned an event that is neighbourhood-inclusive and have developed a proposed budget. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 5, and funds will be given out by Aug. 15. Projects must be completed by Nov. 29. To apply for a grant visit www.nsnh.bc.ca or call 604-987-8138.
