HERE'S a quick and easy idea for a summer floral arrangement. All you will require for this is a miniature cylinder vase, a package of gerbera daisies and some gold glitter or gold beads.

HERE'S a quick and easy idea for a summer floral arrangement.

All you will require for this is a miniature cylinder vase, a package of gerbera daisies and some gold glitter or gold beads. This style of arrangement is perfect for a side table by a couch or on a fireplace mantle. If you cut the daisies shorter you may be able to use a few of these scattered along a dining table.

Materials:

Clear, miniature cylinder vases (available at craft stores)

Gerbera daisies (one colour or assorted)

Sharp floral scissors or knife

Mod Podge

A small paintbrush

Thin ribbon

Glitter or Microbeads

Mod Podge is a water-based sealer, glue and finish and it is available in a matte or gloss finish. I like to use it as multipurpose glue with a small brush for projects such as this. You can find luster gloss microbeads in the Martha Stewart Section of craft stores.

Begin by placing a small amount of Mod Podge around the base of the vase approximately four centimetres in width. Carefully sprinkle the gold glitter or beads around the circumference of the vase until it is completely covered. Let dry.

Fill your cylinder with water at room temperature and set aside.

Using your sharp floral scissors make an angular cut on the gerbera daisy stem. Each flower should have a different height. This way the arrangement builds up from the bottom. Add the shortest-stem flower first and then follow with the longer stems.

At this point you may add a thin ribbon around the top of the gold band for added effect.

You can match the colour of the gerbera daisy to the shade of glitter beads you wish to use. Pink glitter with pink gerbera daisies is a beautiful combination.
