SEVERAL North Shore developers and construction projects are among the finalists for this year's Georgie Awards.

The Canadian Home Builders' Association of B.C. has presented the awards for the top new and renovated homes in the province for 20 years, open to any member of the voluntary association, and this year's finalists include a number of North Shore companies and projects.

G.D. Nielsen Developments led the way among North Shore companies with eight nominations for three West Vancouver homes. All are nominated in the $2 million to $5 million category, two for best kitchen more than $100,000, one for best master suite and one for the best outdoor living space: a multi-tiered oceanfront deck.

As icing on the cake, the company is a finalist in the custom home builder of the year.

Upward Construction & Renovation, also of West Vancouver, is a finalist in two categories for a West Vancouver home renovation.

North Vancouver's Naikoon Contracting is up for two awards for a new North Vancouver house, including best innovative feature for their use of reclaimed wood, and Blackfish Homes & Construction was nominated in the best residential renovation from half a million to $799,999.

North Vancouver's Linda Therrien, up for salesperson of the year, and Larco Investments, a finalist for three awards for their Morgan Crossing development in South Surrey, round out the local nominations.

Several other North Shore residential projects are nominated, including two for Seven35 townhouses by Adera Development in North Vancouver, a renovation by TQ Construction on Adderley Street and a project by Fritz de Vries Architecture on Quinton Place. In West Vancouver, Lido Properties is a finalist in two categories for a home in Westmount.

The winners will be announced at a gala event Feb. 25 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Info at www.georgieawards. ca.
