Happy Bastille Day at Bistro Pastis: For more than 200 years the French have been celebrating the storming of the Bastille as a national holiday. Bistro Pastis in Kitsilano has become celebration central for its annual Fête de la Bastille - a tradition that goes back since the restaurant first opened its doors. Outstanding in the Field with Campagnolo: The pioneering farm-dinner series hits Vancouver at UBC Farm on July 15. The long linen-draped table will host over 100 guests at three farm locations in British Columbia in July, including Pemberton, Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley. Each event consists of a five-course meal, prepared in the group's al fresco kitchen by some of British Columbia's top chefs. Executive Chef Ted Anderson of Campagnolo Restaurant, Campagnolo ROMA and Fat Dragon Bar-B-Q will be guest chef at the Vancouver event. Tickets are $190 (US). Celebrity Chef Cooking Class: The Arts Club Theatre Company will hold the last of its spring 2012 classes on July 18 at 6 p.m. with Tom Lee. The intimate four-course dinner will be held at a private residence in Vancouver. The three-hour interactive class will demonstrate professional techniques and guests will have the opportunity to discover the latest trends in food and wine. Al Fresco Okanagan: Okanagan Crush Pad will team up with Joy Road Catering to host a winemaker's dinner at God's Mountain Estate, Summerland Thursday, July 19 at 6: 30 p.m. Dinner will be made from the best local ingredients. Longtable Dining Series: Araxi restaurant will hold al fresco dinner events July 21 and Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. at Rainbow Park in Whistler. The evening will start with a cocktail reception featuring wine tastings and a dedicated vodka station. A farm to table four-course menu with wine pairings will follow.
