Summer Wine Themed Dinners: Wine luminary Kurtis Kolt will lead a celebration of summery wines and matching food pairings at Beachside Forno, 1362 Marine Dr., West Vancouver. On Tuesday, July 26, get to "Know Your Neighbours" as Kolt's picks will highlight the wineries of North Shore proprietors paired with a fivecourse menu. Tuesday, Aug. 29 will feature "Old World vs. New World" in a traditional sit-down dinner. Receptions begin at 6: 30 p.m. Tickets are $65 and need to be purchased in advance at Beachside Forno or by calling 604-926-3332.

Savour B.C.: Diva at the Met invites guests to explore the summer tastes of British Columbia with their new feature menu, which showcases local food and wine. The three-course menu is available throughout July and August at both lunch and dinner and priced at $55 per person including wine pairings or $39 per person without wine. Taste - Victoria's Festival of Food and Wine: A festival to celebrate B.C.'s flavours will run from July 21 to 24. Focusing on Vancouver Island cuisine and British Columbia wines, the festival is supported by a number of local winemakers, chefs, artisan producers, farmers and fishers. The event kicks off Thursday, July 21 with more than 100 B.C. wines and eats at Victoria's Crystal Garden. Other special events taking place July 22-24 include a wine and seafood extravaganza, a tea tasting, pig roast, threecourse brunch, wine seminar and a "zero mile diet" dinner paired with Mission Hill wines. Say Cheese Rolling: The Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival will be held in Whistler on July 23 beginning at noon with an afternoon of cheese-rolling races and other activities for the whole family. A large wheel of cheese will be rolled down a hill and daring participants chase after it. The first to make it down the hill wins the giant wheel of Canadian cheese and a Whistler ski pass for two.
