Girly Bling and Fashion Fling: Donations of gently worn fashionable clothing and accessories (women's only) are wanted for this fundraiser that will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, 1-4 p.m. at North Shore Neighbourhood House. Clothing donations are being accepted during office hours to Sept. 13 at the front desk, 225 East Second St., North Vancouver. On event day: bring your friends to this giant clothing sale, get a new look and help the house. Silent auction, makeovers and more. Through the Looking Glass, an exhibition of works in fibre, takes place at the Seymour Art Gallery, now through Sept. 18. The exhibit is presented by the member organizations FibreEssence, The Vancouver Guild of Fibre Arts, and the Greater Vancouver Weavers and Spinners Guild. The gallery is at 4360 Gallant Ave. in the heart of Deep Cove.

Thrifty Chic: The Thrift Shop at Mount Seymour United Church (1200 Parkgate Ave., just off Mount Seymour Parkway) is open every Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. New fall fashions arrived Sept. 1.

Spend on Trend: Vancouver's original fashion market is back to unveil new fall collections before they hit the stores, Sept. 16-18 at Heritage Hall. Shop independent designers like Elroy, Dru's Design, Bronsino, Toodlebunny, Bueno Style, Filou and more. Better still: the first 25 people in line each day receive a stylish swag bag. Hours are 5-9 p.m. Friday, 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 with part proceeds to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. North Shore Needle Arts Guild meets the second Thursday of the month and offers instruction in all types of embroidery and beading at St. Martin's Anglican Church hall in North Vancouver. New members are welcome. For membership information, please call 604-922-4032.
