THANKSGIVING is just around the corner but there is still time to plan a nice table arrangement.
At this time of year it's nice to feature the autumn hues and textures of fall as a colour scheme. Designing a simple arrangement doesn't have to be time consuming or stressful. If you focus us on keeping things co-ordinated and simple the table will transform itself into something beautiful on its own.
Stopping into your local floral shop or grocery store will help you get started. Look for deep, rich coloured flowers, grasses or wheats. Stores will be bringing in these fall items at this time of year. Combining a handheld posy of fall florals and tying off with a pretty organza ribbon will provide the base of the table arrangement. Add a few complementary pieces of fall fruit and you are left with a stunning Thanksgiving table centrepiece that took less than 20 minutes to assemble.
Materials:
2 to 3 bunches of fall florals
Ribbon
Sharp knife or scissors
Small real or artificial fruit
Placemats or tablecloth
You may be able to find some pretty fall placemats in stores right now. These are nice to complement the rest of the table items.
Cut your flowers or grasses to about 20 centimetres long. Begin to make the posie by adding one flower stem at a time and gently rotating the stems as you add each flower. The idea is to have the stems form a fan shape that will stand on the table.
Once the posie is done to your desired size, simply tie off with the ribbon. Trim the bottoms of the stems with the scissors so that the posie sits firmly on the table.
Gently place a few items of fruit in the middle of the flower arrangement and place colorful place mats and small candles around the outside.
Finish off with co-ordinated napkins and perhaps a few Thanksgiving-themed table decorations.
