STITTGEN Fine Jewelry, of West Vancouver, has received top honours at the recent 2011 Excellence in Design Awards.

A ring designed by Karin Bunzeit, Stittgen's master goldsmith, was awarded first place in the diamond awards category. Winners were announced at the Jeweller's Ball in Toronto earlier this month.

The handmade ring, known as Enchanted Garden, showcases a 1.02-carat cognac diamond set in 19-karat white gold and diamond pavé rails along with an 18-karat yellow gold filgree centre dotted with pavé accents.

The awards competition is sponsored by Canadian Jeweller magazine. More than 60 entries from designers across Canada were judged by a panel of industry professionals, who assessed the designs for originality, creativity, quality of workmanship, beauty, wearability and marketability.
