BUDDING artists are being asked to share their hometown pride for a new contest.

A recent press release noted kids ages seven to 18 can participate in the nationwide contest called Here is Canada.

Submissions should reflect what makes you proud to be a member of your community and country, or show what Canada means to you.

Submissions may be in the form of a variety of creative mediums, including song, stage act, sketch, essay, speech, poem, dissertation, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, animation, or slideshow, among others.

The contest is being held by CIPA (Collectivité ingénieuse de la Péninsule acadienne), in partnership with Canadian Heritage.

A recent press release by the organization notes participants will have the chance to win $5,000 and a trip to Ottawa with their family to attend the broadcast of their artwork during Canada Day ceremonies. A video montage of chosen entries will be shown during Canada's 145th anniversary celebrations on July 1. Both a virtual and a physical art gallery will be created to showcase the submissions.

The contest ends on March 31.
