Kiwanis Care Centre resident Marjorie Manchester plays Scrabble with Windsor secondary students Sean Laser, Isobel Rennie and Tatiana Fortin on a recent afternoon. Fortin, a Grade 12 student, started the Kiwanis Care Centre Intergenerational Club at her school in fall 2013. Based on its success, seeing volunteers engage in a variety of weekly activities with the Mount Seymour Parkway centre residents from balloon volleyball to holiday-themed parties, she encourages her peers at other local schools to likewise launch an intergenerational club to positively impact the lives of local students and seniors alike.
