North Shore News columnist and Wild Bird Trust of British Columbia naturalist Al Grass leads a group along the shoreline of the Conservation Area at Maplewood Flats last month as part of a birding-themed seniors outreach program offered by the Elders Council for Parks in B.C. The council is offering a series of local events this summer at a number of locations. Next up is A Song of Seymour, a free slide presentation celebrating the landscape and history of Seymour followed by an interpretive nature walk Thursday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. Meet at the Heritage Centre, 1620 Mount Seymour Rd., North Vancouver.
