North Vancouver’s Michael Pattenaude and son Caleb, 7, pose for a photo with entertainer Fanny Starchild. The Starlight Children’s Foundation and Rocky Mountaineer provided a Starlight Escape for seriously ill children and their families July 14. The Pattenaudes were among the 11 Lower Mainland families treated to a train ride to Whistler, intended as a memorable day filled with entertainment and laughter, free from the fear and stress of a hospital. Activities included facepainting, a sing-along, caricature portraits, ice cream in Whistler Village, a gondola ride and a scavenger hunt at the top of the mountain.
