Alexa, find me a new fridge: North Vancouver retailer offers best of smart appliances

North Vancouverites no longer have to travel far to find LG appliances; they can find everything they need at the local Coast Appliances store.

North Vancouverites no longer have to travel far to find LG appliances; they can find everything they need at the local Coast Appliances store.

Coast Appliances, located on Roosevelt Crescent, is expanding its product offering with a wide selection of LG home appliance products now available for purchase in-store as well as on its website.

“LG is a great brand that has been in the appliance business for a long time,” says Gordon Howie, Coast Appliances President and CEO.

“They offer great reliable products with a modern look. We’re excited to add it to our lineup and expand our offerings to customers.”

Howie credits LG’s high quality and innovative design for its popularity.

LG appliances have top-tier, cutting-edge technology that, in addition to keeping your produce fresh for longer, can act as your personal assistant in the kitchen. Did you leave the fridge door open? The LG SmartThinQ® app will send you an alert via smartphone. Need to make a grocery list or look up a recipe? The built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa can pull up exactly what you’re looking for.

Not only do LG machines feature a sleek and modern look, they also feature special sizing—including narrow machines designed for condos and other smaller spaces.

“Most consumers want choice. LG really rounded out our offerings,” Howie says.

Coast Appliances is Canada’s leading independent supplier of major household appliances and accessories with 17 showrooms across the country. Canadian owned and operated, Coast offers competitive pricing, price match guarantees, extended warranties and flexible financing and payment options.

Not only does Coast carry a wide selection of products from over 50 brands, giving consumers options, but it also provides the expertise to help people choose the right appliance for their needs.

The retailer is also one of the few that sells high-end premium lines, such as La Cornue, Wolf and Sub-Zero.

“The service and knowledge of our sales associates really sets us apart from big box stores. At some of those places, their staff is selling nails one day and dryers the next. When you ask them a question, they read the information off the tag on the machine. Our experts only sell appliances. The average sales associate at Coast Appliances has about 10 years of experience, so our guys and gals really know the business,” Howie says.

“A lot of people think an appliance is a simple purchase but there’s a lot more to it. There are a million things that go on with appliances, and we walk you through it all so you can make the best decision based on your needs.”

Coast’s experts know home appliances inside out, so they act more like personal shopping consultants than salespeople.

“Our business is all about service. Why would you go to a big box when you can go to an independent, local store and get great service? ” Howie says.

“When you come into our stores, you’ll see we display products in a kitchen set up instead of just rows and rows of fridges, which can be intimidating to shop in. People just don’t know where to start with that.”

To further serve its customers, Coast Appliances recently launched an e-commerce website for online sales that features a live-chat option for instant access to expert advice. Now customers can easily shop for appliances online and be directly connected to salespeople.

“A lot of people use the website for research and then they come to the store to see the appliance in person,” Howie says.

For those who do opt to buy online, a sales associate will reach out by phone following purchase to arrange delivery and ensure customers are satisfied with their new appliances.

“We’ve seen our business nearly triple since COVID-19,” Howie says.

With everyone spending more time inside their homes than ever before, home improvement projects are on the rise.

“Now is the perfect time to fix things up,” Howie says.

“Anything to do with the home is doing well and we’re happy to help people out with their renovation projects.”

Customers who opt to shop in-person can rest assured that COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at all store locations, as well as during home delivery.
