Nothing beats rediscovering a place you love. And doing it via Harbour Air Float plane with dynamic media types and gracious hosts from Vail and Whistler Blackcomb, is epic. Our agenda: to learn about the resort’s powerful new partnership, savour local and sustainable cuisine from award-winning Araxi Restaurant, and get our culture-on at the Audain Art Museum.
We begin with bubbles, as the Vail Resorts team explains the virtues of the 2017 Epic Pass. This grand buffet of a ski pass gives mountain enthusiasts unrestricted access to 14 world-class resorts including Keystone, Beaver Creek and Park City. My only concern is that if I consume this decadent halibut and side strip dish (and everything else James Walt and his team put in front of me), I may not fit my ski gear come November.
Luckily, getting to the Audain Art Museum requires a village stroll. This stunning, 56,000-square-foot space opened March 2016 and blends so beautifully into the forest, it’s barely noticeable from the street. However, once you step inside, the extensive collections from our province’s first peoples, Emily Carr and exciting artists like Edward Burtynsky will certainly grab your attention.
World class art, cuisine, and 14 new mountains in the family. Whistler Blackcomb, you are indeed epic.
