Variety, the Children’s Charity’s One Night in Monaco Gala

For 50-plus years Variety - the Children’s Charity has ensured children with special needs in B.C. have the support to reach their potential. Wanting to increase its profile to the next generation of leaders and philanthropists, the firm recently partnered with the Social Concierge for its inaugural One Night in Monte Carlo benefit. Staged at the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel, the ballroom was transformed into one of the most famous casinos in the world: the Monte Carlo in Monaco. A full house made the scene for a night of fun and games in support of Variety’s Mobility Program, which covers a range of equipment from wheelchairs and custom orthotics to fully adapted vans and coaches.

JCC Sports Dinner

Howie Long, Fox Sports analyst and Pro Football Hall of Famer, was the special guest and keynote at the Jewish Community Centre’s 24th JCC Sports Dinner. Fronted by JCC president Michelle Pollock and executive director Eldad Goldfarb and gala chairs James Dyson and Mike Averbach, party spirits were high as sports fans piled into the Hyatt Regency Hotel ballroom to hear from the TV personality, All-American defensive lineman and Super Bowl Champion.
Fox threw up a priceless trip to L.A. (to huddle up with him and his Fox NFL Sunday crew). The package scored a touchdown commanding a richly sum of $40,000, contributing to a record-setting million dollar night for the community centre.

Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Ball

In its 21year history, the Daffodil Ball has raised an impressive $15.6 million for the fight against cancer. This year’s gathering once again had all the ingredients for a memorable night. The 2017 edition focused on raising funds for metastatic cancer, cancer that spreads from the primary site to other parts of the body. Led by Carly Monahan and Jennifer Traub, the posh party drew 550 well-heeled guests to the $550-a-plate dinner at the Hotel Vancouver. And over the course of a magical evening, attendees helped fund four metastatic cancer researchers in Canada by giving almost $1.5 million.

Gary Brown’s Silver Wheaton firm sponsored the Canadian Cancer Society’s signature soiree, co-chaired by Jennifer Traub.
