Whether it’s their massive success on HGTV, their new “Scott Brothers” home décor line or their foresight into delving into the Vancouver real estate market straight out of high school (they bought and flipped their first house at just 18 years old making a tidy $50,000 profit), The Property Brothers certainly have the Midas touch. The question they get asked most often? How they got to where they are today. The answers can be found in their new memoir It Takes Two where Jonathan and Drew share how they made themselves a household name.
I had the chance to talk to Drew who called me from his 1921 English country–style Los Angeles home he’s renovating for a new HGTV series “Honeymoon House” with his soon-to-be bride Linda Phan. He happily regaled me with tales of his and Jonathan’s humble beginnings and how drive, determination and sticking together as a family brought the boys to where they are today.
Tag teaming each chapter with their signature affable style, in It Takes Two Drew and Jonathan reminisce about the good and the bad, the ups and the downs, and the tough lessons they learned on the road to success. It’s inspirational to hear how excited they both are for what they’ll get up to next. Drew says with a laugh that he hopes the future brings sleeping in his own bed more than five nights a year.
