There’s nothing like comfort food during uncertain times.

To help you satisfy those cravings, Nando’s North Vancouver is making it safer and easier than ever to get a plate of its signature, South African-inspired flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken.

“We have taken all the precautionary health and safety measures during COVID-19 to protect our guests and Nandocas (restaurant team members). We are now limiting our seating capacity to 50 percent for those who wish to dine in,” explains owner Sonny Mahal.

“We are also providing home delivery through our partners, Skip The Dishes, Uber Eats, and DoorDash. You can also order and pay online at www.nandos.ca and pick-up at the restaurant.”

For those who’ve never tasted PERi-PERi, prepare for a flavour feast.

Nando’s chicken is marinated for 24 hours and then basted with its famous PERi-PERi sauce that ranges from “plain-ish” to extra hot. Next, the chicken is flame-grilled to order, and you get to pick from a delicious selection of sides.

“What makes us popular is our PERi-PERi sauce. All our sauces are made in South Africa. It’s so tasty that you can’t imagine ever eating chicken without it.

Back in 2004, Mahal’s cousin introduced him to Nando’s, and his tastebuds told him what was in store for his future.

“I remember walking into the restaurant for the very first time, and I fell in love immediately with the ambience and atmosphere. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with PERi-PERi fries, and the food was absolutely delicious. I fell in love with all the various flavours of sauces. I told my cousin while eating that I want to one day own a Nando’s franchise.”

Mahal has been a franchise owner since 2006, and the recently reopened North Vancouver location in the heart of Lonsdale is his second Nando’s restaurant.

“Our food and atmosphere and style of service are what keeps guests loyal. We will always be grateful to the community of North Vancouver for loving our flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken and are excited to reopen the doors again.”

If you’re trying Nando’s for the first time, you might want to try one of Mahal’s all-time favourites: 1/2 chicken mango and lime cut in four with a side of coleslaw and rice.
