With a line of customers wrapped around the corner for most of Wednesday (Oct. 17), the province's first cannabis store processed more than 800 transactions on the first day of legalized marijuana.
Despite all that traffic, the store only sold out of three strains on its opening day, according to a spokesperson with the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch (BCLDB).
The BCLDB's online delivery service also saw 9,100 orders placed on the first day. Many more checked out the service before leaving empty handed.
"We have lots of folks who left their baskets full and exited, so I don't know if they realized they didn't finish their transaction, or if they're having a nap and going to come back," Viviana Zanocco of the BCLDB told Kamloops Matters of the online sales.
