North Vancouver Nursing Division No. 68 of the St. John’s Ambulance Association was at Mahon Park in May 1941, demonstrating first aid work to a large crowd at the Mahon grandstand.

When the Second World War broke out, the St. John’s Ambulance Association moved into action across the British Empire “to give aid to the sick and wounded in peace and war.”

Division No. 68 was formed in 1940 with Dr. Eleanor Riggs as division surgeon, Kathleen Lee as nursing officer, and Phyllis Munday, who is leading this parade, as the lady superintendent.
