M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism’s celebrated one of the holiest days on the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha, on July 31.

As part of M.T.O.’s global COVID-19 initiatives, the centre donated 500 care packages prepared for children by the centre’s volunteers, which included school supplies, a custom colouring book, a hand-sewn mask, and more.

All M.T.O. centres, in 35 cities across the world, made similar donations on this day, which is known as a time of pilgrimage, charity, and community.

In the greater Vancouver Area, donations were made to North Shore Neighbourhood House, Helping Spirit Lodge Society, Strathcona Community Centre, Ray-Cam Community Centre, East Vancouver Family Place, Singing Frog Preschool, Eagle’s Nest Preschool, Burnaby Neighbourhood House, Sources Women’s Shelter, Alexandra Neighbourhood Community House, Soroptimist TriCities, and Richmond Hospital Pediatric Unit, to name a few.

The M.T.O. Volunteers were joined by local MLAs, who had helped in the process of connecting M.T.O. to organizations that received donations.
