The following is a selection of volunteer opportunities from various community organizations, made available through Volunteer North Shore, a service of North Shore Community Resources Society.

Team Lead Volunteer responsible for overseeing the lending and receiving of health equipment, record keeping and responding to public enquires. Liaises with regional office staff on a regular basis and reports any accident, incident, security or facility related concern. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Red Cross programs and services and acts as resource in the community. Provides training, direct supervision, feedback and informal recognition to volunteers at the site. Maintains a schedule of volunteer hours and coverage.

Day Program Volunteer Day centre and residential group home supports adults between the ages of 19 and 64 who have developmental disabilities. Seeking volunteers eager to share their talents and hobbies such as sewing, woodworking, photography, crafts and other activities with service recipients.

Lynn Valley Day Volunteers Lynn Valley Days takes place June 15-16. Seeking many volunteers to make this annual community festival a great event. A wide variety of volunteer opportunities are available: greeting at the door for the gala event, traffic control crew, cook, ticket takers, set up and take down and more.

Citizens Crime Watch Volunteer works with an RCMP officer as an extra set of eyes. CCW patrols are generally on Friday during the evening hours, from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., or on special events.

Seniors One Stop Volunteer Mature, patient volunteers with good verbal communication skills and good computer skills are needed. Responsibilities include providing appropriate information and referrals over the phone and in office. Knowledge about the North Shore and some services along with another language would be welcome. Training provided.
