Nonagenarians dress to the nines at special Sunday service

West Vancouver’s St. David’s United Church honours several distinguished members who have all reached their 90th birthdays

Some special North Shore citizens were recently honoured during a Roaring Twenties Sunday service held Feb. 12 at West Vancouver’s St. David’s United Church.

Fancy hats and Jazz Age style were on display as the congregation recognized their most senior members, all of whom have reached their 90th birthdays.

“Our life as a community of faith is enriched by the presence of those who share their stories with us, offer us their wisdom and inspire us through their service, perseverance and continued care for the future of St. David’s,” wrote Rev. Philip Francis in recognition of the nonagenarians being honoured. “Today we have an opportunity to honour and thank them for all they have contributed over so many years to our life and work.”

The distinguished guests were recognized at the service and then feted with a special reception.
