The North Shore Little Libraries Scavenger Hunt has started and prizes will be won

Meghan MacLean and her son Sebastien, Crystal Cahill and Sarah Duggan visit the little library on the corner of 5th Street and Chesterfield Avenue in North Vancouver.

Get your walking shoes on, take out your map, and get outside, as United Way B.C. and North Shore Little Libraries partner up to present the Little Libraries Scavenger Hunt.

Running through the holidays until Jan. 8, 2022, the scavenger hunt takes place across the North Shore. Mark off clues and you could be in the running to win prizes from local businesses, including Bean Around The World and The Style Well.

More than 80 free libraries adorn the North Shore, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to mark off the clues.

Launched earlier this year in June, the Little Libraries map shows residents where to find the free libraries. Scavenger goers may also find some decommissioned North Shore News boxes have been transformed into little libraries. There are nine across North Vancouver that have been revamped for their new purpose.

The hunt is not timed, and there is no prize for finishing first or finding all the clues, so organizers are suggesting hunters take it slow and enjoy the ride.

To be in the running, you must take a photo of each completed clue and post it to the North Shore Little Libraries Facebook group. Organizers hope posters will share where they found the library, so others can find them too.
