Second Annual Snow Day at Mount Seymour's Snow Play Park, North Vancouver, will take place Sunday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Celebrate active winter fun with tubing and tobogganing, snowshoeing demonstrations, crafts, games, outdoor displays, prizes, popcorn and free hot chocolate.

Capilano University's Speaker Series: Lifelong seafarer and ocean activist Captain Charles Moore will bring his discoveries about how plastic is killing the oceans to two free events at Capilano University Thursday, Feb. 2, 11: 30 a.m. and 4: 30 p.m. in the North Shore Credit Union Centre for Performing Arts, 2055 Purcell Way, North Vancouver. Moore will also be available to sign his recent book, Plastic Ocean: How a Sea Captain's Chance Discovery Launched a Determined Quest to Save the Oceans.
