REPRESENTATIVES of the B.C. Hospitality Foundation recently gave a helping hand to a 20-year McDonald's employee.

Last month, Vancouver resident Teresa Acosta received a cheque for $5,000 to assist with living expenses for her and her family. She is undergoing chemotherapy treatment following a diagnosis with breast cancer and will be unable to work for at least a year.

According to a written statement, Acosta is the latest individual to benefit from the foundation's commitment to providing financial support to hospitality industry members who face financial difficulty as the result of a serious health crisis. The foundation also awards scholarships and bursaries to students enrolled in hospitality programs.

Those involved with the foundation invite community members to join them in their mission by making a donation or hosting a fundraising event. Visit www.bchospitalityfoundation.com for more information.
