7 North Shore women among nominees for 2020 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards

Seven North Shore residents have been nominated for the 2020 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.

The 37th annual awards honour extraordinary women leaders across 12 categories. The event also raises money for YWCA programs and services that serve people across Metro Vancouver.

From North Vancouver, Jill Tipping, president and CEO of the BC Tech Association, is nominated in the non-profit category; Laura Patrick, CEO and founder of Kids Physio Group, is nominated in the entrepreneurship and innovation category; Bridgette Anderson, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, is nominated in the business and the professions category; and Lisa Upton, principal at Carisbrooke Elementary, is nominated in the new reconciliation in action category.

From West Vancouver, Chastity Davis, principal and lead consultant of Chastity Davis Consulting, is also nominated in the reconciliation in action category; Lisa Wolfin, director of Vancouver Visual Art Foundation and Art Vancouver, is nominated in the arts, culture and design category; and Sharon Selby, registered clinical counsellor and founder of Toddler to Teen Anxiety Solutions, is nominated in the health and wellness category.

Winners will be announced during an awards dinner slated for May 11.

An earlier version of this article stated only six North Shore women had been nominated. It's been corrected to state there are seven nominees, including North Vancouver's Bridgette Anderson.
