Parade floats, start your mustering! The epic, annual Lynn Valley Days commences tomorrow with a full day of family-focused activities. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at Mollie Nye Way and continues to Lynn Valley Park (3590 Mountain Highway), where the rest of the day will be filled up with local exhibitors, rides, live music, delicious food and more.
It’s a picnic for teddy bears – but you’re invited! St. Andrew’s United Church invites youngsters, their families, and their favourite stuffed animals to attend its annual Teddy Bear Picnic tomorrow from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at St. Andrew’s Park. The free event will feature live music, clowns, face-painting, storytelling, and much more.
The North Shore Jazz portion of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival kicks off this weekend with a number of superb free events. Head to North Vancouver’s Civic Plaza (14th and Lonsdale) to catch Montreal-based artist Briga along with The Absinthe Ensemble perform a blend of Eastern European roots music and Balkan-inspired sounds. Show starts at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, Cousin Harley, billed as Canada’s premier rockabilly band, will deliver a set of roots and foot-stompin’ country and western swing music at Lynn Valley Village starting at 1 p.m.
Also this Sunday, meet at Brothers Creek in West Vancouver at 10 a.m. for an old growth tour, organized by the Old Growth Conservancy Society, which will highlight the history of logging in the area and its impacts along the way.
