Singer Devon Hanley is set to delight audiences with her mix of folk and jazz during a show at Friday Night Live at Lynn Valley United Church tonight at 8 p.m. Inspired mostly by the folk singers of the 1960s and ’70s, the North Shore-born artist will perform alongside cellist Finn Manniche and bass player Rene worst. Tickets are $12.

Visit St. Pius X Elementary in North Vancouver on Sunday for its annual Christmas Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artisan crafts, holiday baked goods, raffles and photos with Santa will all be part of the fun-filled day.

The music of Bryan Adams, some Christmas lights and the imagination of one artist have come together to form a unique display adorning the Polygon Gallery in Lower Lonsdale. Artist Kevin Schmidt has strung more than 214 strings of Christmas lights to the exterior of the building, with the lights programmed to dance and flash in time with his own re-recordings of North Shore legend Bryan Adams’ 1984 album (and the piece’s namesake) Reckless. The lights and music will be turned on every day from 4 till 11 p.m. and the display is expected to run until the spring.

On Howl, the full-length debut from musician and artist Bre McDaniel, she sings about the restorative powers of the wilderness. Those looking for a taste of the transformative and restorative powers of the great outdoors – and live music – should visit North Vancouver’s Park Sound Studio tomorrow at 7 p.m. to see McDaniel play a solo performance. Tickets are $8.

Take your holiday cheer to new heights this season: the Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park are now open. From now until Jan. 27, from 4 to 9 p.m. every day, visit the park to be dazzled by thousands of magical lights twinkling across the bridge, Cliffwalk, Treetops Adventure and all throughout the park.
