The District of North Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society is hosting its third annual Barn Burner concert at The Imperial tonight at 7 p.m., with performances by former Barenaked Ladies singer Steven Page, as well as Barney Bentall, Odds, Rich Hope and Dustin Bentall. All proceeds will go towards benefiting Jack.org and youth mental youth initiatives on the North Shore. Tickets: $55
There’s a bonsai bonanza happening this weekend and everyone’s invited. The West Coast Bonsai Club, a group of bonsai enthusiasts that meets on the third Wednesday of every month on the North Shore, is hosting its annual showcase at Harry Jerome rec centre Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Experience the art of bonsai, and maybe pick up some pots, plants, and supplies for your own bonsai projects while you’re there.
Cyclists and fundraisers have already been gearing up for quite some time for the eighth annual Rotary Ride for Rescue taking place tomorrow at 9 a.m. – but there’s still time to register! Participants will ride up Cypress Mountain beginning at the junction of Cypress Bowl Road and Cypress Lane and finish at the Cypress Mountain Lodge, with proceeds raised from the ride earmarked for North Shore Rescue and Rotary Humanitarian Projects. The Burrard Yacht Club in North Vancouver is inviting the public to come check out some of the most beautiful vintage wooden boats and classic automobiles on the B.C. coast during its 12th annual Classic Boat and Car Show fundraiser tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 .m. Admission is by donation with proceeds earmarked for the Disabled Sailing Association of B.C.
