Those who missed out on spotting one of the brightest meteor showers of the year will have another opportunity to see some equally mesmerizing shooting stars.
Although the Perseids -- one of the easiest meteor showers to view from the Northern Hemisphere -- peaked in August, the annual summer shower is active for nearly two months, from July 14 to Sept. 1, meaning locals still have a few weeks left to get a glimpse.
However, there are a few more meteor showers in store for the remainder of the year.
When is the next meteor shower in Vancouver?
Sky-watchers will have to wait until October to see the next meteor showers; the Draconids and Orionids.
The Draconid meteor shower, sometimes known as the Giacobinids, is best seen in the Northern Hemisphere and will peak between October 8 and 9. They get their name from the constellation "Draco the Dragon" according to timeanddate.com.
The following Orionid meteor shower will peak near the end of October, between Oct. 21 and 22.
The Orionids are one of the two meteor showers created by debris left by Comet Halley and are named after the constellation "Orion" because the meteors seem to emerge from the same area.
At its peak, stargazers can expect to see up to 20 meteors per hour.
Other meteor showers in 2023
After the meteor shower duo in October, three more will dazzle the sky before year's end.
In November, the Leonids can be spotted at its peak between Nov. 17 and 18.
During the last month of the year, the Geminid and Ursid meteor showers will also be visible over Vancouver. The first will peak between Dec. 13 and 14 while the second will speck the sky with shooting stars just a few days before Christmas, peaking between Dec. 22 and 23.
