Surrey resident John Pagador won the $1 million Maximillions prize in the April 12, 2024 Lotto Max draw, according to the BCLC

Surrey, B.C. resident John Pagador says when he realized he won a $1-million Maxmillions prize, the first thing he said was "Thank you, Lord!"

And then, when his wife didn't answer his texts, he rushed home to tell her in person.

“I woke her up and said, ‘Look at my text!’ She was so surprised she kept smiling," Pagador describes in a media release from the BCLC.

Pagador's win came from the April 12, 2024 Lotto Max draw. The Metro Vancouverite learned he'd won when he used the BCLC app to scan his ticket.

There are no immediate plans for how Pagador will spend his winnings.

“I want to invest in my future," Pagador explains. “Family security has been a dream and now I’m one step closer. It’s a huge help.”
