Update: Power restored at YVR terminal

Passengers should contact their airlines for the latest flight information: YVR
Vancouver International Airport
Vancouver International Airport has been working on developing a B.C. supply chain of sustainable aviation fuel.

Systems are coming back online at Vancouver International Airport after a power outage on Friday afternoon.

A power outage on Sea Island in Richmond halted operations in parts of Vancouver International Airport's (YVR) terminal for around two hours on Oct. 14.

YVR announced just after 4 p.m. that escalators, elevators, kiosks and other systems in portions of its terminal are offline due to the outage.

However, flights continued to arrive and depart from the airport.

According to YVR, the power outage was caused by a technical issue affecting parts of Sea Island.

An update issued at around 6:20 p.m. stated that impact from the outage remains as systems return back online, but all essential systems were operational thanks to the airport's emergency power.

The power outage did not appear to cause significant flight delays, YVR added.

Passengers are encouraged to continue to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
