Metro Vancouver transit users should find their Monday commute relatively uneventful.
TransLink has resumed normal service in the aftermath of the heavy snowfall that started Saturday evening and blanketed the Lower Mainland in 25 cm or more of snow.
Some bus routes around the region, including New Westminster and Burnaby routes — especially those with hills — were rerouted yesterday in the face of the winter conditions, but service is back to normal.
TransLink announced last night (Sunday, Feb. 26) that regular service has resumed systemwide.
TransLink is continuing to prepare for the possibility of snow over the next few days, since the forecast still calls for the possibility of flurries.
An earlier TransLink press release noted that, in the event of snow, the transit authority remains in constant communication with municipalities recommending which roads most need salting and plowing. Snow shuttle buses with tire socks are also put in place for customers on Burnaby Mountain, steep areas on the North Shore, and at UBC.
