Robert and Reta Magrath from Chilliwack just won $1 million playing Lotto 6/49 in B.C.

A Chilliwack couple is looking forward to a stable future thanks to a big win on Lotto 6/49.

Robert and Reta Magrath bought a ticket at a gas station in Abbotsford for the Jan. 24 draw; they checked their ticket at home and found out they had won, according to a BC Lottery Corporation press release.

“We were so excited! We had to count the zeros,” Robert says of the moment the pair realized the win.

The number had six zeros, as they'd won $1 million.

The couple have a big love of horses and equine competitions; the win means a lot more time around their big four-legged friends.

In particular, they're looking to compete in the U.S.; Robert has his eye on a competition in Las Vegas while Reta is looking forward to one in Fort Worth, Texas.

Robert says the win feels "surreal."

Last year $230 million was won by people in B.C. playing the Lotto 6/49, a national draw.
