Surrey RCMP were able to recover another one of 14 stolen guitars 15 years later after a break and enter in July 2007.

After 15 years, a Surrey musician got back another one of his 14 stolen guitars.

Country music musician and promoter, Mitch Merrett, had 14 of his guitars stolen from his storage locker in a break and enter in July 2007. The guitars were valued at approximately $25,000.

Surrey RCMP were able to recover three of the guitars and two more were found by Ridge Meadows RCMP and Vancouver Police at the time but Merret never gave up hope of finding his guitars.

On July 6 Merret contacted the Surrey RCMP again saying that he believed he found another one of his guitars listed online at a pawnshop in Vancouver. The next morning Surrey RCMP went to the pawnshop and confirmed that the guitar was indeed Merrett's, seizing and returning the guitar to its owner.

The guitar was a gift from his father and holds significant sentimental value. It is like getting a piece of my soul back, says Merrett.
