Fans shared photos of John Cena celebrating his birthday on a Vancouver film set on April 23. He is filming Peacemaker--a Suicide Squad spin-off show.

Fans shared photos of John Cena celebrating his birthday on a Vancouver film set last week. 

Cena is currently filming a Suicide Squad spin-off show called Peacemaker in the city. The eight-episode series will air on HBO in 2022 and "will explore the origins of the character that Cena will play in the upcoming film, a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it."

The American actor, who is also a professional wrestler, is married to Canadian engineer Shay Shariatzadeh; she studied at the University of British Columbia.

A couple of fans brought Cena a balloon to celebrate his birthday and shared images of him covered in fake blood posing with it.  

Director James Gunn also wished Cena a happy birthday on Twitter and said that the actor loves empanadas. In response, Cena stated that he wishes his Peacemaker costume had an "empanada poop chute."

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently filming in Metro Vancouver and Canada-born actor Jim Carrey was spotted on set last week. 

The funnyman stars as Robotnik in the film franchise's second instalment. The first film, Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), was about a "small-town police officer" who teams up with a blue, lightning-fast, extraterrestrial hedgehog to "defeat an evil genius who wants to do experiments" on the space critter, according to IMDb.

The film also stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Lee Majdoub and Tika Sumpter.

Filming took place in Fort Langley and several fans shared photos on social media
