Two bottles of ultra-rare $110,000 whisky up for sale in Vancouver

It's been maturing for more than 50 years.

A used Aston Martin in Vancouver can run as low as $80,000.

So add on a brand new Fiat 500, and that's about the same cost as a single bottle of whisky the BC Liquor Store is selling this week.

It's an ultra-rare bottle of Bowmore ARC-52. BC Liquor has two bottles to sell, according to a press release, and each run $110,000.

The ARC-52 is a single malt Scotch whisky that's been aged for 52 years in wooden casks. Only 100 bottles were produced.

The bottles themselves have a unique shape and will become collector's items on their own. Designed by Aston Martin, they balance delicately on two curved points of the rounded bottom.

To get one of the bottles, or a bottle of Bowmore Prestige 1969 (which runs a mere $49,500), people will have to win a sort of lottery.

The liquor store at 5555 Cambie St. is holding a special event; on Friday, Jan. 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. people can enter a draw via an old-fashioned paper ballot.

At 7:15 p.m. there will be a draw; if your name is drawn (and you're in the store) you can buy the whisky.

As long as you have tens of thousands of dollars you're ready to drop on a drink.
